On behalf of all the folks at BC Summer Reading Club, we hope that everyone has had a lovely start to their year. I would like to take this time to officially introduce myself, Georgia Franklin, as the new BC Summer Reading Club Provincial Coordinator! I am very excited to take on this role and am looking forward to connecting with libraries, staff and communities across the province. I am officially stepping into the role as our previous Coordinator, Stephanie Usher, wrapped up her commitments with SRC over the last few weeks. I would like to share my deepest gratitude for Stephanie and the incredible work she’s done for SRC. She’s left some big (and lovely) shoes to fill!
This year’s BC SRC artist is a Golden, BC-based illustrator and designer Lauren Achtem. We’ve had the thrill to work with Lauren over the last years as a graphic designer and we’re excited to have her share her illustrations with communities across the province. Check out Lauren’s colourful and adorable artwork below. Finalized versions of the print materials will be available to preview in the upcoming weeks.
Lauren will be available for creative workshops this summer (with some dates in the Lower Mainland). Please contact her at [email protected] for more details.

We’d also like to thank Larissa Clotildes of Prince George Public Library for helping out and supporting BC SRC as a Co-Chair for the last year and a half. And we’re wishing her all the best as she steps away from the role!
