On behalf of everyone at the BC Summer Reading Club, we are excited to welcome Kate Wood as our new BC SRC Co-Chair! Many of you already know Kate through her amazing work as the YAACS Chair and we cannot wait to have her join the team. Kate will be working alongside Jennie Castleton to help get our upcoming SRCs, including next year’s theme – time travel.

Some words from Kate:

Hi! I’m Kate and I am super excited to be taking on the role of SRC Co-Chair! I can’t wait to share my passion for reading and literacy with the rest of the team and to have a small part in continuing to develop and implement a program that is beloved in British Columbia. From participating in Summer Reading Club as a child, to working as a Summer Reading Club Assistant for one summer, I have witnessed first-hand the pure joy and the ability to foster a love of reading in our young readers with this program.

When I’m not doing my work as a co-chair, you might find me camping in the woods somewhere on Vancouver Island, enjoying one of our local beaches, or with my nose in a book under a shady tree.

I look forward to connecting with so many of you over the coming years and am honoured to be in this role.

We’d like to thank Alicia Dobbs and New Westminster Public Library and all the amazing work she’s done as our Co-Chair for the last three years. Alicia has been an invaluable resource with helping pivot the program to a hybrid model in response to the pandemic. Thank you, Alicia!
